Announcing the Inaugural Issue of TAIJA – Tatwachintanam: International Journal of Ayurveda

Volume 1, Issue 1 | Oct-Dec, 2025
A Global Platform for Scholarly Reflection, Innovation, and Surgical Wisdom in Ayurveda

We are delighted to announce the launch of the first issue of TAIJA – Tatwachintanam: International Journal of Ayurveda, a new peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing Ayurvedic knowledge with a special emphasis on its rich and often overlooked surgical heritage.

The journal’s title, Tatwachintanam—Sanskrit for "reflective contemplation on the essence"—captures our mission: to engage deeply and critically with the foundational principles of Ayurveda, exploring them not just as inherited tradition, but as a dynamic, evidence-based medical science.

In this inaugural issue, we mark a significant step in reclaiming and revitalizing the contributions of Acharya Sushruta and other luminaries who laid the foundation for surgical disciplines such as Shalyatantra, Shalakyatantra, and Prasootitantra. These sciences, though historically sophisticated, remain underrepresented in contemporary academic and clinical discourse. TAIJA seeks to change that.

We stand at a crossroads—between the global resurgence of interest in traditional, holistic medicine and the imperative within Ayurveda to pursue rigorous validation and scientific integration. TAIJA positions itself at this confluence, offering a credible, scholarly space that is both grounded in classical wisdom and oriented toward modern relevance.

What You’ll Find in TAIJA:
  • Scholarly interpretations of classical Ayurvedic texts

  • Research articles in Shalyatantra, Shalakyatantra, and Prasuti Tantra

  • Clinical case studies and experiential insights

  • Experimental and interdisciplinary research

  • Contributions from foundational disciplines: Samhita Siddhanta, Rachana Sharir, and Kriya Sharir

  • Dialogues bridging Ayurveda and modern biomedical sciences

Our Vision

To create a vibrant, globally accessible platform that encourages:

  • Reflective academic inquiry (Chintanam)

  • Evidence-based innovation

  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration

  • Preservation and evolution of Ayurvedic surgical knowledge

Open Access, Global Reach

TAIJA follows a gold open-access model, ensuring that every published article is freely available to students, educators, researchers, and clinicians around the world—because knowledge thrives when it is shared.

 Join the Movement

We invite authors, reviewers, practitioners, students, and researchers to be part of this bold academic journey. Read, reflect, contribute, and collaborate as we endeavor to reclaim Ayurveda’s surgical legacy and shape its future with scientific rigor and academic pride.

With sincere gratitude to our contributors, editorial board, advisors, and supporters, we welcome you to explore Volume 1, Issue 1.

Let TAIJA – Tatwachintanam be not just a journal, but a movement.
